THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Air India Express flight that made an emergency landing in Thiruvananthapuram has been rectified. It is heard that the same flight will fly to Dammam. Air India Express IX 385, which took off from Karipur Airport at 9.45 to Dammam, landed at Thiruvananthapuram due to a technical snag. The flight landed at the airport after dumping fuel in the Arabian Sea to facilitate safe landing.
There were 182 people on board, including 176 passengers and six crew members. The landing was carried out after reducing the amount of fuel in the aircraft. The flight flew around Kozhikode thrice and at Thiruvananthapuram eight times. The management declared a full emergency.
The passengers of the flight were shifted to the transit lounge. The plane has been shifted from the runway. When the plane took off from the Karipur airport at 9.45 in the morning, the tail part hit the runway. The Thiruvananthapuram airport was contacted and permission was given to land the plane immediately.
The landing was originally scheduled at 11.03 am but it was not possible. As an emergency landing was not possible at Karipur, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram airports were considered and finally landing at Thiruvananthapuram was decided.
