KOTTAYAM: After a farmer went missing from an official team that went to study farming methods in Israel, causing embarrassment to the government, another farmer has requested to go to Israel to study farming. Roy Kuriyan, President of the Farmers' Congress Thidanadu Constituency Committee, submitted an application to the panchayat committee in Thurutthi with a request to take the farmers to learn farming. This application discussed in the panchayat committee was rejected.
The farmer's demand is to cut down the same type of projects that are being implemented every year in relation to Krishi Bhavan. Instead, it is stated in the application that about 100 young farmers of the panchayat should be included in the panchayat's project share to study and teach farming and go on a study trip to Israel.
Meanwhile, Indian Embassy has issued a warning to Malayalees living in Israel. The embassy warned people not to help Biju Kurian who disappeared soon after arriving in Israel as part of an official delegation. “Biju won’t face much problem if he surrenders now and is ready to return home. Else, Biju and those helping him will be facing much trouble. Also, he won’t be having a good future in Israel.”, warned the embassy.
The state government had sent a letter to the central government requesting to cancel the visa and send him back. Based on this, the Indian Embassy intervened in the matter. As the visa period expires in May, the embassy said that if he returns home soon, he will not face Israel legal action, and those protecting Biju will also face consequences.
