PAYYANUR: Bitti Mohanty, a native of Odisha, who was arrested while working as a probationary officer in the SBT Bank Pazhayangadi Madayi branch under the name of Raghav Rajan, appeared in Payyannur Judicial First Class Magistrate Court yesterday.
A charge sheet was filed against Bitti Mohanty by the Pazhyangadi police on charges of impersonation and fraud by forging documents. The court adjourned the case yesterday after considering the application of Adv Nicholas Joseph, who appeared for Bitti Mohanty on the summons sent to appear on December 13th last year.

Now High Court Advocate

Bitti Mohanty, the son of former Odisha DGP Bindu Bhushan Mohanty, was arrested on March 8, 2013, on the basis of a tip-off received by the police while working as a probationary officer in SBT Bank Pazhayangadi Madayi branch under the name of Raghav Rajan. Meanwhile, it became clear that he was the accused in the case registered by the Rajasthan Police for molesting a German woman in Alwar. He told the court that he was not Bitti and that he was Raghav Rajan. Although the court ordered a DNA test to prove paternity, the parents refused. Later, he was handed over to the Rajasthan Police to complete his sentence in the Alwar rape case. Bitti Mohanty, who has completed his sentence, is now practicing as a lawyer in the Odisha High Court.
