THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday said in the Assembly that he would have replied to the opposition's criticism if he was the old Vijayan. It was Opposition Leader VD Satheesan's remark that the CM would have to sit at home that irked the chief minister.
"Even if someone else were in my post, the convoy would have remained the same. Don't see it as my particular weakness. The opposition leader said that the chief minister will have to stay home and cannot leave the house. If I was the old Vijayan, I would have replied long ago. That answer is not what is needed now," the CM said.
However, Satheesan was in no mood to give up as he replied that he is not afraid of either the old Vijayan or the new Vijayan.
"I'm afraid of neither the old Vijayan nor the new Vijayan," Satheesan replied to the CM.
The chief minister and the opposition leader locked horns during the adjournment motion brought by the opposition in the Assembly against the police action against the protest by the Youth Congress against the fuel cess.
Earlier, Satheesan made the remark against the CM while criticizing actions such as the CM's convoy, hatred towards the black flag and preventive detention of Youth Congress leaders.
