Pipe breaks in Kochi, water supply faces disruption for up to two days

KOCHI: The city's water supply was disrupted following the breakage of a pipeline passing through Thammanam-Palarivattom road. The water supply can be resumed only tonight or tomorrow.

The 700mm branch pipe from the main pipe that pumps water from Aluva broke At 10.30 am on Tuesday. Drinking water supply in more than 20 wards like Edappally, Thammanam, Chalikavattam, Palarivattom, Pullepadi, Vennala, Elamakkara, and Ponekara will also be disrupted. Following the breakage, collector Dr Renuraj visited the place. The corporation has announced that water will be pumped in tankers to the areas facing drinking water problems. The new crisis comes while the water supply in West Kochi was being restored for a week due to the failure of the pumps at the Pazhoor pumping station.
