SHILLONG: Ambiguity clouds over Shillong as no party have the majority to form a government. It was said that the incumbent NPP chief Conrad Sangma will ascend again the throne as the chief minister with BJP support. Sangma even reached the Raj Bhavan to discuss the formation of a government with Governor Phagu Chouhan.
However, the tides took a turn when the hill state people's democratic party took back its support for Sangma's government. The HSPDP has got two MLA’s and the paltry two can be decisive in the hilltop terrain of Meghalaya. The 60-member assembly needs a majority of 31 to form the government. Sangma's NPP is the single largest party with 26 seats.
Meanwhile, it is said that the Trinamool congress with 5 seats has started gambling to form the government with other parties. Trinamool wants to join hands with UDP which has 11 seats in place. Congress has received 5 seats and is ready to join hands with TMC to oust BJP from the hilltop region. TMC leader Mukul Sangma has confirmed about the party doing the needed talks to do business right. He told that all measures will be adopted to form government in the coming days.
