Case filed against 30 SFI activists for trespassing into Asianet News office; 8 surrendered

KOCHI: Eight people, including SFI Ernakulam district president Prajith Babu, who were arrested for trespassing in the regional office of Asianet News, were released on bail. Palarivattom police registered a case against 30 SFI workers on Friday night based on Asianet News Resident Editor Abhilash G Nair's complaint.

A group of eight activists including Thripunithura area secretary Brahmadutt and district committee member Sarath appeared at the police station on Saturday evening. The police said that the CCTV footage is being checked and more arrests will take place. Police protection has been provided to the Asianet office.

The SFI march was in protest against a news aired by the channel.

The KUWJ Ernakulam district committee has registered its protest against the the trespassing at Asianet's office. A protest rally was held. SFI district secretary Arjun Babu told 'Kerala Kaumudi' that SFI is not against the freedom of press and will face the case legally.
