RIYADH: Yoga is introduced in universities in the Muslim country of Saudi Arabia. The new Saudi decision is after recognizing the importance of yoga in maintaining mental and physical health. Nouf Al Marwai, president of the Saudi Yoga Committee, said that in the next few months, several agreements will be signed with leading universities in Saudi Arabia to support and promote yoga.
The main objective of yoga training is to improve the physical and mental development of budding sportspersons to help them participate in international championships. Al Marwai mentioned the introduction of yoga in universities and the importance of practicing yoga for the health and well-being of male and female university staff and students.
'Increasing participation in sports activities and achieving local sporting excellence is the most important step towards achieving Vision 2030. Yoga is not just about meditation and relaxation as some believe. The committee aims to identify and develop the talents of distinguished yoga practitioners, in general, in all types of yoga or yogasana sports, and to support them to represent the country in regional and international tournaments-.
