KOCHI: The Kerala High Court will consider the suo moto case registered by them on the fire in Brahmapuram waste plant. Collector Renu Raj, corporation secretary and pollution control board chairman will appear in the court today. The corporation secretary has been asked to submit a report on the present situation. An action should be found for the solution. The court had the other day clarified that every day is crucial.
The chief secretary of the local department is also a party in the case. The court rejected the municipal secretary's explanation that there is fire in many places. Following that, the secretary apologized to the court for the lapse.
Meantime, former mayor Tony Chemmani alleged that despite the condition that biomining should be completed by the end of 2022 at the Brahmapuram waste plant, only 25 percent treatment was done. The government provides indirect assistance to the company contracted for plastic processing.
CPM leader Vaikom Viswan's daughter's husband is the MD of this firm. Bengaluru-based Sonda Infratech has been awarded the contract for biomining at Brahmapuram. The former mayor has demanded an investigation against the company.
