Attempted to smuggle gold by tying it on both hands; Air India employee arrested

KOCHI: An Air India employee has been arrested for trying to smuggle gold through the Nedumbassery airport. Wayanad native Shafi, a cabin crew member, was nabbed by the Customs Department. He tried to smuggle 1487 grams of a mixture containing through the green channel. Shafi is an employee of Bahrain - Kozhikode - Kochi Air India flight.

He tried to smuggle gold by tying the gold mixture to both his hands and then covering it with his shirt. Shafi was arrested during the inspection conducted by the Kochi Customs Preventive Department based on confidential information.
