Disproportionate assets case: HC rejects DySP Bijo Alexander plea

hc

KOCHI: The High Court rejected the plea filed by Thrissur Crime Branch DySP Bijo Alexander to quash the final report by the vigilance in the disproportionate assets case. Vigilance found that Bijo Alexander had acquired illegal wealth worth Rs 33.38 lakh from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2015. The petitioner argued that the vigilance did not consider the amount of Rs 20 lakh as agricultural income, Rs 3.50 lakh paid by his brother-in-law and Rs 6 lakh from the sale of his wife's gold. The first two items were undocumented. The bill of sale of gold was found to be fake. Justice Kauser Eppadagath further stated that the numbers raised by the petitioner cannot be considered in this petition.
