THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kasaragod Crime Branch Inspector R Sivashankaran has been dismissed from service for sexually assaulting the complainant by misusing his official position. State police chief Anil Kant issued an order in this regard. The action was taken as per Section 86(3) of the Kerala Police Act.

As part of the procedures, the DGP had already served the officer with a show cause notice. The DGP analysed the arguments after receiving Sivashankaran's response. After concluding that Sivashankaran's arguments were without merit, the DGP issued an order dismissing him from service with immediate effect.

The order states that the officer is not fit to continue in the police force as he has been involved in such cases continuously and is continuing to behave badly despite facing disciplinary action several times. Since 2006, Sivashankaran has been suspended four times and subjected to departmental actions 11 times as part of various disciplinary actions.
