The tusker damaged the wall of the estate’s labour canteen at 10 pm last night. The canteen supervisor Edwin had a narrow escape. The tusker chased Edwin, who came out hearing a noise, for a long distance. He ran into a nearby shack. He escaped by a whisker. The labourers who came hearing the commotion chased the tusker by making noise. The elephant is called Arikomban as it is fond of eating rice.

There are continuous elephant attacks in Idukki. A biker had sustained injuries in elephant attack near Chinnakanal the other day. Johnny of Rajakkad sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Rajakkad. The elephant which was standing on the road hit his bike with its trunk. Johnny fell from the bike and fell down at a nearby culvert and escaped from the clutches of the elephant.

It will take many more days again. It is reported that a 25-member team consisting of three Kumki elephants will arrive from Wayanad before March 15th.
