First mobile medical unit will reach Kochi on Monday, says health minister

KOCHI: The government is making moves to ensure good health for people engulfed in the toxic fumes of Brahmapuram. The mobile medical unit will start working from Monday in Brahmapuram, health minister Veena George informed. On Monday, 2 mobile medical units will start working while it will be 5 units working on Tuesday.

After the smoke emanated from Brahmapuram, the residents and the people by large experienced difficulty in breathing and suffered burning eyes. Many were rushed to Kalamessery hospital and the senile population who are prone to such ailments were mired in the burning smoke with little help. The mobile medical unit will help people identify ailments and will provide apt treatment for recovery.

If the case requires more medical surveillance, the patient will be referred to the hospital from the unit.

A clinical medical officer, a nursing officer, and a nursing assistant will be present in the vehicle. The emergency required Stabilization and nebulization options are available in the vehicle. Mini spirometers are also ready for service. The initiative is a combined effort from Aster Medicity and Peace valley.

On Monday, the unit will be present near the Champakara SNDP hall from morning 9:30 to 11 am. There are also other locations where the vehicle will be available with service. On Tuesday, apart from the many locations, the vehicle will also be ready with assistance in Udhaya Colony from evening 3 to 4:30 pm.
