Host refers to ‘RRR’ as a Bollywood movie, widespread protests

S S Rajamouli's RRR has become the pride of the country by winning the Oscars. Ram Charan and Jr NTR starrer made South India proud when it dazzled at the Oscars. During his opening speech, host Jimmy Kimmel described RRR as a Bollywood film. The error caused numerous reactions and some even staged their protests.

RRR is South Indian cinema, a Telagu film, Tollywood. Not Bollywood, as some Oscars ppl might be saying!

There were discussions on Twitter. 'RRR is a South Indian film. A Telugu film, Tollywood and not Bollywood as some say,' said writer Preeti Chibber. Another opined that Oscar likes controversy and conflicts. Meantime, when 'Naatu Naatu' song was screened at the Oscars, actress Deepika Padukone described it as an Indian production Telugu film.

Director Rajamouli said at a Golden Globe Awards press meet that 'RRR is not a Bollywood film, it's a Telugu film from South India'.
