Man lies to girlfriend about having cancer and borrows money for treatment, then fakes death to avoid marrying her

ABU DHABI: A girlfriend has filed a complaint against a man who faked his death to avoid marrying her. The incident took place in the UAE. The woman alleges that her boyfriend took Dh2,15,000 from her by lying that he was ill.

The accused had told his girlfriend that he had cancer. He said that he had to go abroad for treatment and needed money for this. The complainant then gave him the money.

After getting the money, the boyfriend switched off his phone and absconded. The brother informed the woman that he was dead. But the woman realized that this was a lie. Then she met her boyfriend and asked him to marry her, but he refused. With this, the woman approached the court demanding her money. As per the complaint that she was in a relationship with the man and he extorted money from her on pretext of marriage.
