THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala finished third in the four-day All India Forest Sports Meet held from March 10th in Panchkula, Haryana. Competitions were organized in track, field, archery, rifle shooting, athletics, power lift weight lifting, swimming, and indoor dais separately for men and women.
In the 26th All India Forest Sports Meet held at the Panchkula Tau Devi Lal Stadium Sector 3 and Ambala Stadium in Haryana, for the third time after many years, Kerala bagged 379 points with 117 medals, including 34 gold, 49 silver, 34 bronze and 21 fourth place.
Kerala bagged 5, 3, 2, and 1 points respectively, for gold, silver, bronze, and fourth place in individual events and 10, 6, 4, and 2 points for gold, silver, bronze, and fourth place in team events.
Around 2500 people, including 500 women, competed in 258 events in 34 different sports in the sports event in which various states and Union Territories participated. The first All India Forest Sports Meet was organized in Hyderabad in 1993. Haryana has hosted the 10th All India Forest Sports Meet in 2003 and the 13th All India Forest Sports Meet in 2013.
