Ganesh Kumar intervenes, Sheeba gets expert treatment at Aster Medcity

KOCHI: A financially struggling woman, who has been suffering for more than a year following continuous surgeries, is now receiving free expert treatment at Ernakulam Aster Medcity, thanks to the intervention of KB Ganesh Kumar MLA. Pathanapuram native Sheeba, who has undergone 7 surgeries in four hospitals for a ruptured wound in her stomach, is now undergoing treatment at Aster Medcity.

Ganesh Kumar had lashed out at the doctors while narrating the plight of Sheeba in the assembly. Sheeba sought Ganesh Kumar's help when she had no other options left. Sheeba was taken to the hospital on Wednesday morning after the authorities of Aster Medcity informed the MLA that they would take up her treatment. Sheeba's plight began after she underwent surgery in February at a private hospital to remove a uterine tumour.

Sheeba, whose husband died 18 years ago, was a domestic worker in Kuwait for seven years. A uterine tumour was detected when she underwent an examination after experiencing abdominal pain. Although the uterus was removed, she experienced swelling and excruciating pain in the surgical area a week later. Upon reaching the hospital, another surgery was performed to remove the pus from her stomach. However, the pain did not subside. Later, she was taken to Parippally Medical College, another private hospital and Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. However, there was no relief for her pain. Relatives said that Sheeba was upset when doctors told her there was nothing more that they could do. Sheeba has two sisters and a blind mother. Her married elder sister also has health issues.
