Ayurveda arrack is Jose Prakash’s special item, charges Rs 1500 per litre

KOLLAM: A team led by Punalur excise circle inspector K Sudevan found an industrial based arrack manufacturing unit in Anchal. Three people have been arrested. The unit was found in the house of Jose Prakash in Anchal.

The team seized 1000 litres of toddy, five litres of arrack, gas stove, cylinder etc from the manufacturing unit arranged on the second floor of the building. Bath mills were equipped with a water supply system powered by a motor, and large stoves powered by gas cylinders. They used different types of fruits and Ayurvedic products and used to charge up to Rs1500/- per liter for arrack.

Anil Kumar alias spirit Kannan, a native of Chadayamangalam in Kottarakkara supervised the making of the arrack. Manikuttan, a native of Chadayamangalam Vellupara, was the main helper and Jose Prakash provided financial and space facilities. All of them have been accused in the case.

Preventive Officers Ansar A, K P Sreekumar, B Pradeep Kumar, civil excise officers Anish Arkaj, Harilal S and Robi CM were also in the team.
