VISAKHAPATNAM: India on Sunday suffered a humiliating defeat against Australia in the second ODI of the three-match series held in the YS Raja Reddy Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. After being put into bat first, India was dismissed for just 117 runs in 26 overs. Indian batters struggle to get any hold in the match as they had no answers for the fiery spells of Aussie bowlers led by Mitchell Starc, who took five wickets. Sean Abbott and Nathan Ellis scalped three and two wickets respectively.
Virat Kohli (31 runs in 35 balls) was the top scorer for India in this horrid batting display. Four Indian batters were dismissed without troubling the scorers. Axar Patel (29 runs from 29 balls) remained not out and helped take India over the 100-run mark.
In reply, Australian openers Travis Head (51 from 30) and Mitchell Marsh (66 from 36) took Indian bowlers to the cleaners. Australia handed a heavy defeat to India by winning it in just 11 overs and without even losing a wicket.
The ODI series is tied as both teams won one match each. The last match has now become a decider as is scheduled to be held on March 22 at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
