No woman representative on stage during UDF program; ‘It instills fear’, says Rahul Gandhi

KOZHIKODE: Rahul Gandhi has criticized the absence of women at the UDF convention venue. He said that more than fifty percent of the country's population is women and a venue without women instills fear. He was speaking after inaugurating the convention organized by UDF in Mukkam.

A video of the construction of houses for needy families through the 'Kaithangu' scheme implemented in Wayanad constituency was shown on the screen set up at the venue. When he turned back to watch the video during his speech, he realized that there were no women on the stage. At this time there were about twenty people on the stage.

“More than fifty percent of the country’s population is women. I wouldn't say that much should have been here. But at least 10 to 15 percent women should have been given a chance on this stage.”, said Rahul Gandhi. With this, the women activists present in the audience clapped and shouted slogans to support Rahul Gandhi. With this, smiles appeared in the faces of the people.
