If cat needs to be belled, I'll be ready for it: Speaker

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the opposition satyagraha and sloganeering in the well of the House became stronger during the question and session, Speaker AN Shamseer issued a warning. The Speaker's remarks came after the opposition members ignored repeated requests that they should go to their seats. The Speaker warned that if there is a question about who will bell the cat, I am ready to do it and there is no point in throwing accusations after taking such steps.

"False remarks are being made for my ruling on Monday. Everyone respects the position of Speaker. Press conferences against the Speaker are also not held. Now, they are holding a press conference outside, criticizing the Speaker for denying permission for an adjournment motion. For the first time in the history of Kerala, the Speaker's effigy was burnt. The issue raised here is that the adjournment motion was not allowed. The adjournment motion has been denied at many stages. The Speaker could have resorted to disciplinary proceedings. I did not go into such actions because it is not right. All those in the opposition ranks are well-learned. There are those who were in the House before I was born. Therefore, the opposition should reconsider their position", the Speaker said during the question and answer session.
