Addressing Mohanlal as the great actor of Malayalam is best suited for him. Many directors who have worked with him have stated that they have never felt that he was acting. Director T K Rajeev Kumar revealed the analysis of Swaraj Mani, a famous psychiatrist in Kerala, about Mohanlal made years ago. Rajeev Kumar revealed what Swaraj Mani said after watching one of his best films Pavithram.

‘Lal Sir was confused on how to act the climax scene in Pavithram. It can be said in the story that it was not a mental disorder but a sudden shock. Lal Sir was running around like a SSLC student. After ten minutes, Lal Sir asked whether could act like ‘grinding teeth’. Me and cameraman Santhosh Sivan thought it was good.

After the release of the film, the then famous psychiatrist Swaraj Mani sir called me after watching the second show. If you are gritting your teeth, then you have researched well and taken the film. He asked whether such researches are done in Malayalam cinema.

When I told him about it, his reply was. If Mohanlal had done it, then the fact that he is a great actor is simple. Every observation in Lal's life shows that he has a photographic memory in his brain, and his great IQ can retrieve the photographic memory when it comes to acting. Those characters can recall the moments they saw somewhere in him, depending on the context. That's why we say Mohanlal is the greatest actor of India. Swaraj Mani sir had told me many years ago that if a character played by Mohanlal is remade, that film will not be a hit.’
