Vizhinjam: Meeting of cooperative banks to find 100 crores to take place on Thursday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A meeting of cooperative banks to find 100 crores to be paid to Adani Group as the first instalment for the groyne deposit at Vizhinjam port will be held today under the chairmanship of minister VN Vasavan.

The aim is to find Rs 100 crore out of Rs 347 crore owed to Adani by forming a consortium of cooperative banks. The meeting will be held in the minister's chamber in the secretariat after the cabinet meeting.

During the monthly review meeting, Minister Ahammed Devarkovil had assured Adani that the money would be paid within a week. The government is now making the hasty move as the time for paying the money will run out today.

Sources close to the Adani Group are saying they did not receive any information from the government about the money. The unofficial explanation is that the meeting was delayed as the Port Secretary was in Delhi.
