KOCHI: Sathyadeepam, the mouthpiece of the Angamaly archdiocese, has lashed out at Thalassery Archdiocese Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany for making a pro-BJP statement. In its editorial, Sathyadeepam expressed its stand against Pamplany's statement that the Church would support the Central Government if it raise the price of rubber to Rs 300 per kg. Sathyadeepam accused the Bishop of pledging the self-esteem of farmers through his statement.
'Do not justify the practice of securing votes by saying a price. The eligibility and intention of the one who extends the hand should be checked. The statement from the bishop is a dangerous simplification of the crisis in the agricultural sector. The central government has been functioning by adopting the monopolization of agriculture as an agricultural policy,' the editorial read.
