Vaidekam Resort row: Vigilance seeks govt's permission to form expert team

jayarajan-

KANNUR: Vigilance has sought the government's permission to form an expert team in the probe against Vaidekam Resort in Morazha, in which the family of LDF convener EP Jayarajan has a stake. The expert team is being constituted for clarity on technical matters. For this, Vigilance's Kannur unit has submitted an application to the Director of Vigilance and the government. Further steps will be taken after the approval of the government.

Vigilance has started a preliminary investigation on the complaint filed by the Youth Congress leader alleging corruption in the construction of the resort. As part of this, vigilance inspection was conducted in Anthoor Municipality and Vaidekam Resort. Vigilance says further investigation is required to find out whether there has been any irregularity. The Vigilance will decide to file a case only after the inspection by the expert team.

The investigation team collected the information from the complainant over the phone. If a case has to be filed, the detailed statement of the complainant will be recorded. Meanwhile, amid the controversies, attempts were made to sell shares in the names of EP Jayarajan's wife and son. The shares of both amount to Rs 91 lakh.
