LC secretary’s SDPI links; entire members of three branch committees quits CPM

CHENGANNUR: The outburst in CPM unit in Cheriyanad continues over the connection of local secretary with SDPI. All the members of Cherumikkad, Ottapes and Anjilichuvadu branches of the Cheriyanadu South Local Committee have resigned. However, the leadership has not confirmed this. Earlier this month, 38 people have submitted resignation to district leadership. Now 14 CPM members have left the party. The protest is based on the fact that local committee secretary Sheed Muhammad has connections with SDPI leader.

Cheriyanad South Local Committee is under Chengannur Area Committee. Those who resigned also alleged that SDPI had won even in the local committee secretary's own ward. They also say that the LC secretary did not conduct the anti-communal meetings called by the state committee. Those who resigned indicate that more members might leave the party.
