THRISSUR: Balakrishna Poduval, the state general secretary of Kerala hotel and restaurant association has stated that they will join hands with the hotelier associations of the south Indian states and spread the nationwide protest against the uncontrolled increase in the price of cooking gas for commercial use.
He was inaugurating the protest dharna organized by Kerala hotel and restaurant association Thrissur district committee against the increase in cooking gas prices. Balakrishna Poduval said that the frequent price hikes are ruining the hotel business sector and he asked the central government to withdraw the hiked amount.
In the protest which started from Thrissur Thekke Gopura Nada, the hotel owners carried straw and firewood on their heads and built a firewood stove in front of the AGS office. State Working President C Bijulal, State Vice President N Sugunan, State Secretary Unnikrishnan Eacharath, former State Working Presidents GK Prakash, M Sreekumar, district office bearers VR Sukumar, Sundaran Nair, N Kumaran, VG Seshadri, and PS Baburaj spoke in the strike organised under the chairmanship of District President Ambadi Unnikrishnan.
