Pattoor attack: Housewife's confidential statement will be recorded

kk

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police are still groping in the dark two weeks after a housewife was attacked by an unidentified man when she went out to buy medicine in Pattoor. The police haven't obtained a clue about the assailant or the vehicle used in the crime.

The assailant, who was wearing a helmet, can be seen following the woman on a scooter in all CCTV footage obtained from Moolavilakam to Pattoor. However, the scooter's registration number and company are not clear. The investigation team has not been able to ascertain the colour or number of the vehicle, even after enlarging the footage collected by the police and playing them on the screen. The investigation is hindered by the darkness, excessive light from the vehicles from the opposite side and the movement of the scooter.

As part of collecting evidence, the police expanded the investigation by collecting footage from more cameras around the incident site. The police have also started efforts to record the confidential statement of the housewife. Although the investigation team approached the housewife in this regard, she did not give any assurance to the police about when she would come to give her statement.

Although the investigation is based on the statement given by the housewife to the police, the investigation team is also checking whether it could get any more clues about the incident by recording the confidential statement. The investigating officers can apply to the court for collecting the confidential statement of the woman only after getting assurance from her.
