THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A man found guilty of tying and sexually absuing a 16-year-old girl was sentenced to 49 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 86,000. If the fine is not paid, the convict will have to undergo an additional two years of imprisonment. The said person, Shilpi (27) of Akash Bhavan, Puruthipara Colony in Aryanadu was sentenced by the special POCSO court Judge R Sudarshan. The court also directed that the fine should be paid to the victim.
The girl was constantly harassed by the accused over the phone and in person. On one day, the accused came to know that there was no one in the house, and he trespassed and tied up the girl before abusing her. He had threatened to kill the girl if the incident was disclosed. The incident took place on August 3, 2021. Another day, when the girl went to take a bath in the bathroom outside the house, the man threatened to leak her nude picture and abused her again. After some months, the girl came to the hospital with abdominal pain and found out that she was pregnant. After filing a complaint with the police, she got an abortion at the SAT hospital. The police proved that he was the one who abused the girl by conducting a DNA test. Shilpi is accused in several criminal cases. Special Public Prosecutor RS Vijay Mohan appeared for the prosecution.
