Seven-year-old girl burnt on leg with hot spatula by stepfather in Wayanad

KALPETTA: A seven-year-old girl was singed with a hot spatula on her leg by stepfather in Wayanad. The Kalpetta police have arrested the accused. The neighbours who saw the burn injuries on the girl’s leg had informed the Childline and the police.

The child was assaulted last Wednesday. Vishnu, a native of Kalpetta, inflicted burns on one of the twins with a hot spatula. The second child was also brutally beaten up by him. The girl who suffered burns is undergoing treatment at the Kalpetta General Hospital. Childline has decided to move the children and the mother to a shelter home.

Meanwhile, a stepfather was arrested in Thrissur earlier for slapping a four-year-old boy in the face with a coconut frond as he could not sleep at night due to the child’s cry. Prasad, a native of Kunnamkulam, was arrested. The accused slapped the child on the face and body. The child suffered injuries.
