Tribal man's death; investigation of Viswanathan case handed over to crime branch

KOZHIKODE: Crime branch to take over the investigation of the incident where Viswanathan, a tribal youth from Wayanad, was found hanging near Kozhikode Medical College. The investigation was handed over to the crime branch a month and a half after his death. The family had demanded a crime branch probe earlier. Meanwhile, the accused who attacked Viswanathan has not been found yet.

The tribal man, who had come to Kozhikode Medical College as an attendant for his wife's delivery, was found hanging later. Viswanathan who went missing from the hospital on February 8, was found hanging from a tree near the hospital two days later, The family alleged that he went missing after being interrogated by security personnel on the charge of theft. Eyewitnesses also confirmed that they saw him being interrogated. Other attendants present at the hospital at that time said that he ran out of the hospital after this. CCTV footage of people gathering around Viswanathan was also released.
