THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Albeit the covid cases burgeoning in the country, the state health department is shying away from revealing the exact numbers but is sending the same to the central government's covid portal. Even the hospital details of the affected ones are being shrouded by the officials. This happens at a time when the central government has especially taken up monitoring the cases in Kerala.

Till March 22, the health department's website was updated with covid counts and death numbers. However, a sudden rise in deaths has forced the authorities to stymie the website from working for days unknown. Minister Veena Geroge clarified the issue as a clerical error but never showed initiative in rectifying the glitch.

According to the central government's website, a total of 1193 cases has been reported in the state on Thursday. Nearly 10,000 people are in treatment for the disease. The number of people admitted to hospitals remains unknown.
