Death of siblings in Manimala: Jose K Mani’s son arrested and released on bail

KOTTAYAM: K M Mani (19), son of Jose K Mani, was arrested and released on bail in connection with the death of siblings in a collision between a car and a scooter. The Innova car driven by K M Mani fatally knocked down Mathew John (35) of Karikattoor and his brother Jins John (30) at 6 pm on Saturday.

The name of the driver was not registered first in the police FIR when the accident occurred. It was later registered as a 47-year-old driver, but there was a strong complaint and protest that it was K M Mani who drove the car. With this, a case was filed against K M Mani, son of Jose K Mani, for negligent driving and for culpable homicide. Kottayam SP K Karthik informed that the accused was arrested and released on bail last night. The car is owned by Jose K Mani's brother-in-law. The car coming from Karikkattoor towards Manimala collided with the scooter of the youths who were returning from their aunt’s house in Karukachal.

Mathew John and Jins John were engaged in aluminium fabrication works. Their parents are Yohanan Mathew and Sisamma. Mathew John leaves behind his wife Ansu from Mundathanam Puthenpuraikkal. Both died Sunday early morning while undergoing treatment at Kottayam Medical College.
