My daughter has no role in assaulting youth by quotation team, says mother

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mother of Lakshmipriya (19) the first accused in the case of hiring a quotation gang to attack her lover of Ayiroor in Varkala, said that her daughter has no role in it. She said that her daughter has no role in the assault and when she could not tolerate his annoyance, she told her friends to find a way to avoid him.

‘My daughter told the gang not to beat him when he was attacked. The youth had annoyed her. She said that her daughter told her that she entrusted her friends to find a way to avoid him when he constantly irritated her via phone. Lakshmipriya did not tell her friends to beat him. It was all planned by the gang. They said they will beat her too while attacking the youth from Varkala. Her mother said that she does not know the details of those in the gang.

Meantime, the youth’s father had earlier revealed that there was an attempt to settle the case. The gang had offered Rs 15 lakh to the youth. The quotation gang forcibly made him drink beer and smoke ganja. They burnt his body using cigarette butts. The youth has been shifted to his relative’s house. His father said that he was unable to bear the condition of his son. The gang attacked him demanding Rs 5 lakh. The two were not in a relationship and they got acquainted via Manoj. The gang took him at 9.30 in the morning and dropped him at 7.30 pm. They did not give him even a drop of water. The youth’s father said one person called him saying that Lakshmipriya’s father has offered Rs 15 lakh to settle the case.

The police arrested Lakshmipriya of Varkala, the first accused in the case and the youth’s lover. She is a first-year degree student. She was arrested from her hideout in the capital city last night after an investigation was conducted focusing on her phone’s tower location. The police will register her arrest and move on with further steps. Five including her new lover are on the run. Amal of Manjummel in Ernakulam was taken into custody yesterday. The police said after producing Lakshmpriya in the court will seek her custody.
