Youth held for duping many to tune of Rs 23 lakh with job offers

KOLLAM: A 39-year-old youth has been arrested on charges of duping men and women to the tune of lakhs by promising jobs. The arrested is Biju of Kallelibhagom in the district. He duped three people from Aadinad promising jobs to their children in Doordarshan and Asianet and collected Rs 23 lakhs from them.

He was arrested by a team led by Karunagapally circle inspector Biju. They gave him the money one and a half years ago. He gave an appointment order typed by him in a fake letter pad of Prasar Bharati. When they grew suspicious and asked him to return the money, he cheated them giving a cheque which bounced later. The police are also investigating the complaint that a similar cheque case of Rs 35 lakh was given to the owner to buy the house where the accused is presently staying on rent. He was produced in the court and remanded.
