Ernakulam Sivakumar to proclaim arrival of Thrissur Pooram

THRISSUR: Tusker Ernakulam Sivakumar will proclaim the arrival of Thrissur Pooram by opening the South Tower gate of Sree Vadakkumnathan Temple in Thrissur. The decision regarding this was taken in the meeting of the Kochi Devaswom Board and the constituents. Sivakumar will open the gate of the south tower carrying the idol of Neythalakavu Bhagavathy. Thrissur Pooram ceremonies begin with this.

There was an opinion that Thechikotukavu Ramachandran should be brought back to perform the proclamation of 'pooram'. Regardless, Shivakumar, devaswom's own elephant was selected. Sivakumar is the tallest elephant of the Cochin Devaswom Board. It was also decided in the meeting to increase the financial assistance to the 'ghadaka poorams'.
