KOZHIKODE: An identification parade was held after bringing Shahrukh Saifi, the accused in Elathur train fire case, to the police camp in Kozhikode. The investigation team conducted an identification parade after bringing the witnesses to the camp.

ADGP M R Ajith Kumar and IG Neeraj Kumar Gupta were also in the camp. The Special Investigation Team had taken statements from the witnesses yesterday. A witness statement was that Shahrukh was wearing a red shirt at the time of the attack, but when he reached Kannur, his dress was different. A mystery arose that Saifi changed his dress despite losing his bag. It is suspected that he may have got help from someone else and the team is investigating this.

The investigation team found some similarities between the earlier car blasts in Coimbatore and Mangalore and this train attack. The investigation then extended to Tamil Nadu as well. Police Commissioner V Balakrishnan said they will probe whether he has any connection with the car blasts in Coimbatore. The accused, who left home came to Kerala and had no intention to return home.
