THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Minister V Muraleedharan said that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a Vande Bharat train due to a misunderstanding. He also said that a campaign that there will be no Vande Bharat trains for Kerala led to misunderstanding among the people.

"The Chief Minister wrote to the Prime Minister due to a misunderstanding. He had this misunderstanding after he listened to the words of the media. The media had wrongly reported the reply given by the Centre in the Parliament. This led to a situation where the Chief Minister wrote to the Prime Minister. The campaign 'No Vande Bharat Train for Kerala' is the biggest example of the efforts made by some to create a misunderstanding regarding the Prime Minister's developmental activities for Kerala," Muraleedharan said.

Meanwhile, the rakes of the first Vande Bharat Express for Kerala have reached Palakkad. BJP workers gave a grand reception to the train. BJP leader and Indian Railway Passengers Amenities Committee chairman PK Krishnadas welcomed the loco pilot with garlands. The rakes will reach Kochiveli in the evening.
