Murder of youth with cricket bat; court acquits accused 

murder

KOLLAM: The third additional sessions judge Usha Nair acquitted the accused in the case of filing charge sheet by the Kottiyam police for allegedly killing their friend for hurling abuses.

The dead is Nuju (26) of Nedumbana. The incident happened on December 11 in 2012 at 5 pm on Kulappadom-Nedumbana panchayat road. The first and second accused of Nedumbana identified as Keeri Anzar alias Ansar (35) and Saifudeen (33) of Said Manzil, have been acquitted.

On that day, Nuju used abusive language at Ansar and also harmed him physically. The prosecution case is that following the incident, Ansar came with his friend Saifudeen and with the cricket bat hit Nuju on his head and incurred injuries all over his body with some deadly weapons.

22 witnesses from the prosecution side were cross-examined. 33 documents were produced. However, the court upheld the defense's argument that the prosecution failed to prove the allegations against the accused. Advocates E Shanawas Khan, Velliman Indrabalan Pillai and Ayesha Sadiqque appeared for the accused.
