THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: RCC Director informed the human rights commission about completing steps to allow people to have free scanning from HLL. The move was made after the repair works in progress for the MRI scanner machines inside the regional cancer center in the capital.

The lone MRI scanner in RCC went off which made the people take the long work to reach private hospitals and take scans spending a humungous sum. The human rights commission head Justice Antony Dominic after discerning asked the RCC director to take adequate steps.

Earlier, due to the repairing works, many patients even those in serious conditions were shown doors with no treatment in progress in RCC. In the letter to the human rights commission, the director informed about clearing the purchase order. The new machine will be purchased with the fund allotted by both centre and state governments. Mammograms will return in two months' time while MRI scans will take six months. Till then, the HLL can be reached for free scanning for every patient relying on RCC. The case was taken after a petition from human rights commission worker Ragam Rahim.
