Milma gets additional profit of Rs 1 lakh per day after price hike, nothing in it for farmers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of market expansion, and as part of the implementation of a unified packing design called 'Repositioning Milma', smart and rich milk has been increased by Rs.2 per litre, but the dairy farmer has not benefited. Milma earns up to Rs 1 lakh daily and can expect up to Rs 3.6 crore per year.

When the price of milk was increased by Rs 6 per litre on December 1 in 2022, 83.75 percent of the amount was paid to the farmer, that is Rs 5.025. On that day, the price of blue cover milk was increased by Rs 6 per litre, but the price of yellow and green cover milk was increased by only 4 rupees. Milma is of the position that when the remaining Rs 2 is increased, they should get the entire profit.

Milma officials stated that the reason for the controversy was the failure to notify the minister and the media about the price increase. Consolidation of milk prices was discussed during a meeting to discuss the final preparations for the Repositioning Milma program to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister. Chairman KS Mani said that the Minister will be made aware of what happened.
