Milma changes milk price hike decision; 'Rich' milk price hike withdrawn

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Milma with small changes after increasing the milk price without informing the government. The price hike of full-fat Milma 'Rich' (green cover) milk has been withdrawn. An increase of Rs 2 per liter was made which has been withdrawn now. Whereas the price of low-fat Milma 'Smart' milk, which was Rs. 29 earlier, will continue at the increased rate of Rs 30 per half-liter packet.

Meanwhile, the price of Smart 'double toned' (yellow cover) half liter pack has increased from Rs 24 to Rs 25, though the price increase has not been implemented for both the blue cover milks. Milma has informed that 83 percent of the amount from the price hike will be given to the dairy farmers. Yesterday when Milma Chairman KS Mani was asked about the increase in milk price, he replied no and the price was increased the next day. The price of one item was reduced when it came to light that the price hike was done without the knowledge of the animal husbandry minister.
