Great to get opportunity to meet PM; aim of meeting is to give our thoughts for good and progress of people, said Metropolitan of Syrian Church of Knanaya

KOTTAYAM: Knanaya Metropolitan Mor Severios Kuriakose of the Syrian Church said that it is a great honour to get the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He told the media that the purpose of the meeting was to share their thoughts for the betterment and progress of the people of the country.

‘When we say Arsha Bharata culture, it is everyone's heritage. The whole world should get the comfort and happiness. There is no need for discrimination when the government strives to worship God for all men, regardless of minority or majority, and to have the thought that all are children of God, and that all are brothers and sisters,' he said.

Modi will meet eight Christian religious leaders in Kochi today. Political and social observers see the meeting as extremely important in a situation where the pro-BJP stance, including the Cardinal, has been publicly announced.

The central and state leadership of the BJP has paved the way for the meeting with the aim of securing the support of the church leaders in the context of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The state leadership hopes to win a few seats in the Lok Sabha and assembly elections if they get the support of a section of the Christians.
