Woman who disguised herself as a man and committed acid attack on her ex-boyfriend's wedding day arrested

JAGDALPUR: The woman who attacked her ex-boyfriend with acid while he was about to marry another woman has been arrested. The incident took place in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh. Bastar police arrested the accused woman yesterday.

The acid attack took place on April 19th when the groom Damrudhar Baghel (25) was marrying a 19-year-old girl in Chhote Ambala village under Bhanpuri police station limits. Ten people accompanying the bride and groom sustained minor burns in the attack. People could not see the accused as there was no electricity at the time of the incident. Then the police registered a case against the unknown accused and started an investigation. The police officer said that the scenes in the CCTV cameras and the background of the bride and groom have been checked.

During the investigation, the police found the involvement of the woman, the ex-girlfriend of the groom, and took her into custody, after which she confessed to the crime. The accused told the police that he and Damrudhar were in love for the past several years and the groom cheated on her by marrying another girl. The woman said that she planned the attack when she came to know about Damrudhar's marriage. The police said that the accused had stolen the acid from her place of work.
