Case against Excise officer for beating pet dog to death after it bites his wife

NEDUMANGAD: A case has been filed against an Excise officer for beating his neighbour’s dog to death and for assaulting the owner. Nedumangad native Prashanth, an officer in Chathanoor Excise office is the accused.

Prashanth’s wife Rajalakshmi was bitten by the pet dog in neighbour’s house when she went there to invite for ‘sanchayanam’ ceremony. Rajalakshmi’s both hands were bitten by the dog. As a revenge for this, Prashanth reached the neighbour’s house and killed the dog by hitting on the head using an iron road. The incident happened on April 20 around 2.30 pm.

The complaint is that he abused and pushed Aditya Rashmi, the owner of the dog, to the ground. The complaint also says that he threatened her. Aditya Rashmi's tooth is cracked.

Prashant is on probation in the Excise Department. A case has been registered against Prashant for killing a dog and harassing a woman. He is absconding and the police have started an investigation for him.
