The security personnel reached here after receiving information about the presence of Naxalites. The attack took place while they were returning from the area.
The attack happened a week after Maoists opened fire on the convoy of a Congress MLA who was returning from a public meeting in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur. The Congress MLA, Vikram Mandavi, was travelling with panchayat member Parvati Kashyap when the Maoists shot at their convoy.
