Eight-year-old girl brutally thrashed by mother, attempts suicide when grandma informs police, held

IDUKKI: An eight-year-old girl who was brutally thrashed by her mother, has been admitted to Idukki Taluk Hospital. The third-class student has bruises and swelling all over her body. The child’s grandmother seeing her daughter attacking her granddaughter, informed the police. Following that, the 28-year-old woman attempted suicide. The police rescued the woman who was found hanging in a shawl.

Police said the child injured is from her first marriage. She has a one-and a half- year-old child from her second marriage. After her second marriage, she was staying with her mother along with her husband. The child injured is in the hostel and the incident happened when she came home for summer vacation. Police said the woman had attacked her mother also.
