WASHINGTON: Writer E Jean Carroll testified against former US president Donald Trump in sexual assault case. Jean Carroll testified in Manhattan federal court that Trump raped her and that she was so broken that she couldn't even have a romantic relationship after that. “I’m here because Donald Trump raped me,” Carroll told the jury Wednesday. And when I wrote about it, he said it didn’t happen. He lied and shattered my reputation. And I’m here to try to get my life back”, said the writer in the court.
Caroll says Trump molested her in a dressing room at Bergdorf Goodman department store in Manhattan in the 1990s. The case is also filed likewise, but Jean Carroll revealed the abuse in 2019.
When Trump arrived at the store, he asked Jean Carroll, who was there, to help him buy gifts to give to a friend. He bought a handbag and a hat. After that, he asked for help in buying women's lingerie and he selected a blue one. Trump then asked her to wear it. When she refused, he forcibly took her to the dressing room and closed the door. He then shoved her against the wall and pulled down her tights. She felt like being suffocated and then he raped her. Although she tried to resist, she couldn’t escape Trump’s grip. She fled the store somehow after this. Carroll said that she was unable to have a romantic life again after that and found it impossible to smile at a man. She said that she did not had sex since then.
Trump’s dream of becoming US President again might never come true following this confession. He had earlier denied the accusation and called it a trick for the sale of her book.
