KOCHI: It will be the rarest of thoughts to crave a return back to school during summer vacation times. Most students shrug even at the thought but not the student of MGM Puthenkurish high school and it comes for a reason. The school management has decided to take 200 students on a flight journey free of cost. The trip is planned from Ernakulam to Thiruvananthapuram. The students will visit the museum, zoo, and magician Muthukad's magic planet in Kazhakuttam. The return journey will be by bus. The school plans to take PTA officials and required faculties for the trip which will cost around Rs 6 lakh in total.

It all began on April 11th. MLA Sreenijan was at the school for a function. He talked about how children from financially struggling homes yearn for an air journey. The MLA’s words never faded from the school manager Saji K Elias’s mind. He took the word and decided to take the children for a maiden flight journey, with the management said to cover the cost.

Puthenkurish School is unique for various reasons. Uniforms and bags are provided free for children. A feisty meal at break time makes the school an exemplar in education and service. Meanwhile, MLA Sreenijan promised the management about taking the students to the legislative assembly and explaining how the assembly functions.
